See the Good: Cultivating the North

December 2, 2019

48North just added to the
whole atmosphere I really wanted to see this place flourish
welcome to the Delshen indoor facility near Kirkland Lake Ontario this was
the first facility for 48North and it’s about a forty thousand square foot
facility so here at Delshen we do the small batch grow we try to pride
ourselves on the quality of our cannabis I think that’s what gives us the
advantage here it gives you a lot more time than some of these bigger places
that have 250,000 square feet that are just constantly just trying to catch up
presently our products are being sold through Ontario Quebec and Alberta’s
provincial stores pre-rolls in Ontario and Alberta and three and a half bags
through Quebec the process here starts in our mother room that is the stable of
everything we do here we have to have strong genetics here at Delshen we grow
five dominant strains green crush Girl Scout cookies kosher Kush granddaddy
purple and power plant what’s fantastic about having a small
batch cannabis operation is that we really have the opportunity to cater to
the plants to give them exactly what they need it almost looks like the buds are
covered in sugar so you can see those nice big trichomes we’re looking for
when the trichomes turn amber color and it’s really awesome because we don’t
have to have like a set harvest date it really depends on the strain you really
try to cater to each strain and their individual needs it’s been an awesome
opportunity for people to have really good work here this is a really great
company to work for we’re going more for quality than quantity and we’re really
working on terpenes and we want to make sure that our stuff doesn’t go through
radiation it’s the cleanest possible product that we have
it’s merging the craft and the compliance part of it together to come
to our ultimate goal here of growing quality cannabis well you can see that
the quality of the cannabis is really important even from the people doing
pre-rolls to the people bagging the weed they care we do everything physically
here with people so the buds that go in the bag it’s a person that put it in
there if it’s too small for them to want to smoke they’re not gonna put it in the
bags this was a government facility run by the Ministry of Natural Resources and
grew tree seedlings for Northeastern Ontario about 16 million trees I ended
up buying it and ran it for 15 years after privatization within the provincial
government and I wanted to add to the community as a whole for jobs it’s a
good opportunity for a lot of people to get into a new industry we’re also
bringing in people that have certain skill traits that add to the community
as a whole and that’s very important for diversifying this community we’ve seen
so much in the mining of forestry ends this is a whole new industry and we’re
trying to introduce new industries to the area when we all accomplish things
together greater things happen
