Gardening Tools & Accessories : Gardening with Cultivators

January 4, 2020

Hi, I’m Stan DeFreitas, Mr. Green Thumb, for
On Gardening. One of the most important tools that you can have is some type of a cultivator.
This is a little hand cultivator. You see it has the three prongs. It’s great if you’re
working in around the bed. Let’s say you have some weeds or something, you want to kind
of get them out of there. If you start to pull them out by hand, you will often find
your back and your neck and your shoulders and other parts of your body will have a lot
of problems. But, if you have a cultivator like this, you can simply use it, use your
torque, and kind of pull those weeds and other things out. Loosen the garden soil up so you
can get your plants in easily. If you’re having, let?s say, a tomato bed or you’re putting
in cucumbers or something of that nature, you really want to be able work around it.
Remember that most plants need good oxygenation in the soil and this will help. Also, you
want to make sure that you have good water movement through the soil, too. Sometimes,
cultivating the soil with a cultivator will help make your gardening easier, keep down
those weeds, and you know the weeds will always come quicker and faster than the rest of your
plants. Using a cultivator is a grand idea in your tool set. For On Gardening, I’m Stan
DeFreitas, Mr. Green Thumb.
